Bay who, Bay Blue

‘Bay Blue is another one of my favourite photos. Mainly because it was taken in my home village. It is one of my favourite places to go, for thinking, for ideas and for photos. Listening to the waves I feel at home, I feel happy by the sea.

I remember going to the bay one summers evening, the sun was beginning to set and the air was warm. I walked the length of the front and watched as the sun was lowering, seagulls in the sky and waves crashing against the shore. I had taken several photos already but as I stood leaning against the railings I took a deep breath of sea air and closed my eyes. I stood there for a while before opening my eyes and seeing the beautiful skyline a pale orange, the blue of the sea and the clouds above. It felt like I was seeing for the first time.

I took a lot of angles of this photo, but the one I found that works the best is now known as ‘Bay Blue’. It is central, straight and includes all the aspects I wanted to capture. It shows the skyline, the railings, the sea and the clouds. It shows the colours, the dark and light parts, everything about this picture makes me smile. It reminds me of my home, my happy place.
