Walk on the Website
So here it is, the one, the only.... the walk on the website. This post is where I will explain my pages, direct you to where the key pages are and generally everything about my website and some of my favourite products.
To start with, I just want to iterate that everything you see on this website is my own design. From the colour scheme right the way down to the padding around each image, it's all my own design to reflect my own ideas and personality. However I would like to say a big thank you to the person who helped create my website, who introduced me to the site, the designs and helped me get it completed. So thank you (you know who you are).
Right let’s do this, first off my home page took some time to create, I loved the picture on the main screen, one because it is black and white and second because when I added it to the home page I thought it really popped. I then added the white text on top of the image and my eyes lit up. It stood out so much and I was smiling from ear to ear. The more I played around with the layout, colour styles and headings, the more I started to see in my mind’s eye the homepage you see today. I love how the dark grey header makes the white writing pop, how it flows from the left where my social media links are, to the drop down menus; starting from Home, all the way to Updates. I love the picture and the style of writing, I feel it draws you in and I am so happy with the way the home page turned out. Because I liked the dark grey header so much I decided to keep this continuing with a mix of white through the entirety of the site and pages.
My next page I created was the Card page. I had to add each individual picture as its own products, adjust the settings and enter all the credentials on each one, one after the other. Although this was a tedious job it was so worth the end result. All of my cards in one place, the names under the image, along with the prices. I then had to look at how many I wanted on each row, how far I wanted them spaced out, and after a few mishaps and a play around, after around a week I completed the card page. I love that they are all flowing down, and enjoy the fact that they gradually fade in when the page scrolls down. (If you want to access the Card page then all you need to do is hover over the shop tab on the home page, a drop down list will appear and then simply click on cards).
The following page I created was the Canvases page. I decided to do this in a different way to the card page. Rather than listing each canvas as its own, I decided to add all of the photos which can be added onto a canvas and create an order form. This seemed to be the easiest way to do this and the only reason for this is because there are many different sizes that the canvas can be made on and it would get confusing if I listed all of them with the same picture, and the sizes. You would have ended up with five of the same image in a line, with five different sizes. So creating an order form made this easier. It allows you to fill in your details, choose the image that you want on a canvas and select the canvas size. Once this is then emailed to me, I will make sure that your canvas will look ok on the size you have chosen and will then get this printed right away. I enjoyed learning how to create an order form as I had never done one like this before, but am very pleased with this page as well. (If you want to access the canvases page then all you need to do is hover over the shop tab on the home page, a drop down list will appear and then simply click on canvases. To order a canvas, stay on the same page and scroll right to the bottom and fill in the order form).
The next page that I created has to be one of my favourites. Yup you guessed it.... it’s the Collections page. This is where you are able to see all of my photos in different collections based on what they are; for example the sun collection will include all of my photos that feature the sun in all forms, from sunrises to sunsets and everything in between. This is the same for any of them; tree, animal, flower, beach any of the collections will have photos of that particular category on the page and they allow you to use arrows to scroll through them. I also decided to make it an option if customers wanted to they can order the collections as they are. If you wanted to order the flower collection, all of the designs that include flowers that are shown on the collections section will be available to order on its own, in one bundle. To order these, head over to the contact page. (If you want to access the collections page then all you need to do is hover over the shop tab on the home page, a drop down list will appear and then simply click on collections).
Funnily enough the next page I created was the Contact page. This is quite self explanatory; this page is where you can contact me. It's where you can send me a review, you can contact me regarding an order, ask me some questions, provide feedback, anything at all can be done through my contact page. This will then be sent to my email and I will respond as quickly as I can. (If you would like to access the contact page then from any page, just look in the header bar and click on contact. This will then take you to a new page and fill away).
Some of my pages took a while to edit and make into how I wanted them. These were Updates, Postcards and Keyrings. The updates page was the most complicated as I wanted to provide a place where all my blogs would be, where everyone’s voice would be heard and where I could share any news to you all via the website as well as social media. After three weeks the updates page is exactly how I wanted it, it includes everything I was aiming for. My postcard page never seemed to go right, this took me several days to make the layout right, and rather than just adding each postcard as an image I wanted to give the customer the option to create their own postcard with either one, two, three or four images on them. My keyrings page seemed to be one that also took a long time, making sure all the names were correct, the images with one showing the keyring and another when hovering over the image will show the keyring on keys. It took a long time to get all of this the way I wanted, and I had to take each individual photo of the keyring and the keys myself. So over several hours and 110 photos later I managed to finish my keyring page and am very happy with it. (If you would like to access the updates page, then in the header, hover over updates, a drop down list will appear and you can click on the update that you would like to look at. If you would like to access the postcards page then hover over the shop page and click on postcards. Lastly if you would like to access the keyring page then hover over the shop heading, wait for the famous drop down list and click on keyrings).
The rest of my pages and little tweaks around the website didn’t take too much time at all. The about page was straight forward enough, all I had to do was write a little bit about me and my photography. (If you would like to access the about page then in the header bar you will see about, all you do is click that).
The last page that I created was the calendar page; again this didn’t take too long. All I added were a few photos of one of the calendars I already made, and added a little bit about the calendars that you can custom make yourself. All you have to do is head to the contact page and send me an email. (If you would like to access the calendar page then head to shop, wait for the list and then click calendars).
My website means a lot to me, and in the future things may change style and colour wise, but at the moment I am very happy with my website and am so happy that you all get to see it. I hope this helps you when needed and if there are any questions or anything that you feel I would benefit from then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for walking the website with me!
